What are they? Well.. the name comes from a combination of pareidolia, which is our tendency to recognize images or faces and assign meaning to them in our environment, and art, which is, you know, whatever art is. I truly connect with this, since I love making friends and seeing the positive in any environment I step foot in, so I'm drawn to these subjects in my pareidoliart.
What do you see in yours?
To hop onto this project, I find it's easiest with a smartphone or tablet so that we can download and digitally edit the photos. Conversely, if you have access to a printer, you can print the images and use good ol' pencils and markers to show us what you see.
Whichever way you choose, you'll first select an image from the sample images below (or go out and take your own!). Choose one that'll makes you go, "there's definitely a ____ in here somewhere, and I'm gonna bring it out!" The goal here is to add onto what you see to give it a new meaning. Transform it into a new friend, a foe, a scene on another planet!
Once you've found your inspiration, it's time to help make it into a reality. Use whatever means you like to draw onto the photo and make it into something new. I added a few examples below as well.
